GOODWE HELP
Help with your GoodWe system
Guides for GoodWe hybrid and solar inverters and Lynx Home batteries: what the lights and screen messages mean, reconnecting the app and where to find GoodWe’s own help.

Safety first. Smoke, sparks, a burning smell, or crackling from your inverter or battery? Get everyone out, call 000 and tell them you have solar or a battery. Only use the shutdown procedure at your switchboard if it’s safe to do so. Never open the cover of an inverter or battery.
Product notices. Some GoodWe EHB series hybrid inverters have a safety recall about the bypass switch. Keep that switch set to Normal unless we tell you otherwise. Some older GoodWe MS series inverters have a recall because the AC plug can be removed without a tool, so please don’t touch the plug. If you think either applies to you, contact us and we’ll check your install.
QUICK FIX
Changed your modem or internet provider?
If your app stopped updating after a new modem, a new wifi password or a change of internet provider, your system just needs to be reconnected to your new wifi.
Remember, your solar is still working.
It’s only the monitoring and reporting in your app that has stopped. Your system keeps making power as normal while it’s offline.
Your system uses your home internet to send data to the app, so an internet dropout, a new modem or a change of provider will stop the app updating. These are outside our control, but reconnecting is quick to do yourself.
Haven’t changed anything?
Turn your modem off for 30 seconds, then back on. Wait 15 minutes and check the app again.
How to reconnect it
Newer wifi dongles (reconnect by Bluetooth)
- Download the SolarGo app and turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Stand near the inverter and connect to the wifi dongle plugged into the bottom of it.
- Enter your new wifi name and password.
Older wifi modules (reconnect through the Solar‑WiFi network)
- Stand near the inverter and connect your phone to the Solar‑WiFi network it broadcasts.
- Follow GoodWe’s Wi‑Fi setup guide below to choose your new home wifi and enter the password.
GoodWe dongles only work with 2.4 GHz wifi and need to be within about 10 metres of your modem. Don’t hold the button on the dongle for more than a few seconds, as a long press wipes its settings.
Still offline?
If you’ve followed the steps and GoodWe’s guide and it still won’t reconnect, we can book a technician to reconnect it for you. A service fee applies for reconnection visits.

IS IT WORKING?
What the lights mean
Your inverter shows its status with lights and messages on the screen. The wifi dongle plugged into the bottom of the inverter has its own light.
Inverter
- Red light: there’s a fault. Read the message on the screen and see common problems below
- Blank screen at night: normal for solar only inverters, as there’s no sun
Wifi dongle light
- Solid: connected and sending data to the app
- Two flashes: can’t reach your wifi. See the quick fix
- Four flashes: connected to your wifi, but can’t reach the internet
- Off: restarting or no power
YOUR APP
The SEMS+ app
SEMS+ shows your solar, home use, battery charge and grid in an energy flow picture, plus alarms and history charts. GoodWe moved to the new SEMS+ app in 2026, so if you’re still using the old SEMS Portal app, it’s worth switching.
Download for iPhone
Find it on Google Play (search SEMS+)
Reconnecting to wifi
Changed your modem, wifi password or internet provider? Follow the quick fix steps at the top of this page.
Remember, your solar is still working. Only the app has stopped updating.

COMMON PROBLEMS
What’s going on?
Tap a problem to see what to check first.
The app says my system is offline
It’s usually your wifi, and your system keeps running. Check the dongle light and follow the quick fix steps at the top of this page.
The screen says “Utility Loss”
The inverter can’t see the grid. Check whether there’s a blackout in your street, and that the solar or inverter breaker in your switchboard is on. If the power is on and the message stays, contact us.
The screen is blank
At night that’s normal. During the day, check the DC isolator next to the inverter is on. If it is and the screen is still blank, contact us.
The screen says “ISO Failure”
This is an insulation fault, often after rain. It needs a technician to check. Don’t touch the wiring, and contact us.
The screen says “Vac Failure” or “Fac Failure”
The grid voltage or frequency was outside the safe range, so the inverter paused. It usually restarts by itself. If it keeps happening, note the times and contact us.
My power went off in a blackout
If you have a GoodWe hybrid with a battery and backup, your backed up circuits should keep running. Solar only inverters switch off in a blackout, which is normal and required for safety.
RESTARTING YOUR SYSTEM
How to restart it safely
Most problems don’t need a restart, and GoodWe says switching should be done by qualified people.
Your system has a shutdown procedure sign fitted at the switchboard or inverter. Always follow that sign, because it matches how your system was installed.
If the screen shows a message, check what it means under common problems and in GoodWe’s help pages first. If your system has stopped producing power altogether, contact us and we’ll talk you through a safe restart for your installation.
Never open the inverter or battery, and don’t switch isolators on and off repeatedly.
MANUALS
Guides and manuals
GoodWe’s user manuals are in their download centre. Your model is printed on the label on the side of the inverter.
WARRANTY
Warranty
GoodWe’s warranty depends on your model. Most current hybrid inverters and Lynx Home batteries are covered for 10 years, and some older inverters for 5 years. Keeping your system online in the app helps protect your warranty. Our 10 year workmanship warranty covers the installation.
If you think something is faulty and covered by warranty, contact us first and we’ll handle the claim with GoodWe for you.
Our warranties are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
