EV CHARGERS
Home EV charger installation in the Blue Mountains and Greater Sydney
Charging at home is the easiest way to run an electric car, and it works even better with solar on the roof. Here's a plain guide to how home charging works and what's involved in having a charger installed.

THE BASICS
Three ways to charge at home
A standard power point
Every EV can charge from a normal household power point. It's slow, adding roughly 10 to 15 km of range an hour, which suits short daily drives and overnight top ups.
A dedicated wall charger
A 7 kW single phase wall charger is the most common choice for homes. It adds around 40 km of range an hour, enough to refill most cars overnight.
Three phase charging
Homes and businesses with three phase power can charge at 11 kW or 22 kW, if the car can accept it. Handy for bigger batteries, work vehicles and quick turnarounds.
SOLAR AND YOUR EV
Charge your car from your own roof
A smart charger can follow your solar, sending spare daytime power into the car instead of exporting it to the grid.
Add a home battery and you can keep driving on your own solar after dark. You can also set a schedule so the car charges during your cheapest tariff window.
BEFORE WE INSTALL
What we look at first
Your switchboard and supply
A wall charger needs its own dedicated circuit. We check your switchboard has room and whether your property has single or three phase power.
Where the car parks
The charger location and the cable run back to the switchboard shape the cost and the tidiest way to install it.
Your solar and battery
If you have solar or a battery, or plan to add them, we choose a charger that works with your system. We install chargers from Sigenergy and Tesla.
GOOD TO KNOW
EV charger questions
Do I need solar to install an EV charger?
Do I need three phase power?
No. Most homes have single phase power, and a 7 kW charger is plenty for overnight charging. Three phase allows faster charging if your car supports it.
Will a charger work with my car?
Almost every EV sold in Australia uses the Type 2 plug, so a Type 2 charger suits nearly all current models. Tell us what you drive and we'll confirm.
How long does installation take?
A standard installation is usually done in a few hours by a licensed electrician. Longer cable runs or switchboard upgrades can add time, which is why we visit first.
